I love reading this type of post, so here is my WITB.
Driver: Taylormade RBZ Stage 2, 9.5 degree. Diamana W60, X-Flex shaft.
I loved the light head and fast ball speed from this club as soon as I hit it. I chose the super stable but soft-feeling W60 to help keep me straight. The most recent RBZ Stage 2 club to go in my bag.
Fairway Wood: Taylormade RBZ Stage 2, 14.5 degree. Graphite Design Tour AD YSQ, X Flex shaft.
I was not enjoying my old fairway wood, so the RBZ Stage 2 was the first club I tested once I decided to pull the trigger and buy a new one. My biggest decision was which loft to choose. I went for the 14.5 as, more often than not I use this like an old fashioned 2 wood (from 300 yards out on a long hole. I also describe this club as my ‘fairway driver’). The fun shaft from Graphite Design makes the ball fly a long way, almost as far as my driver but I can also hit it ‘off the deck’.
Hybrids: Taylormade RBZ Stage 2, 19 & 22 degree. UST Mamiya 680 F4 (stiff) shafts.
I chose these hybrids after testing my friends on the range. I loved the distance, feel and versatility of these clubs. I started out with the #3 and then added the #4 shortly after, If I saw a #2 I’d probably add that to my collection. My local club fitter convinced me to have a go on the shafts, although I initially wanted an x-flex the added weight of using an iron shaft makes these feel lovely whilst the softness in the flex gives me some spin that’s useful in an approach club. These are my go to ‘lay up’ clubs as my fairway wood is setup for distance rather than control.
Irons: Nike Pro Vr Combo, 4-P. True Temper Dynamic Gold S200 shafts.
I love the classic look of these irons when I’m over the ball, so that’s what sold me on them. Plus they came with my favourite iron shafts as standard. Apart from changing out the stock grips and having the lie flattened I didn’t do much to these bad-boys. I really like them and I never expected to say that about a Nike golf club. I usually carry the #4 iron and the #4 Hybrid because I carry the hybrid about 5-7 yards further but I do have other options depending on which course I’m setting up for.
Wedges: Mizuno MP-T4, 52 & 60 degree. True Temper Dynamic Gold, wedge flex shafts.
The slim top-line gives me confidence at setup. I trust mizuno clubs because I’m that kind of golfer. I will be sad when I need to replace these guys. I carry just two wedges because I’m not the longest hitter and I need the support in my longer approach shots. Ultimately I have more confidence in my game when hitting 70% of my 52 degree wedge over 85 yards as opposed to hitting 80% of my #3 hybrid from 210 yards.
Putter: PING Pal 2, Stainless Steel. Super Stroke Mid 2.0 grip.
I’m not the best putter. I currently swap between 3 putters but this is my go to club. I love classic PING putters.
Ball: Titleist ProV1 or ProV1x
I kid myself that I am not loyal to a golf ball, but if I had to pick a ball to use for the rest of my life it would be the ProV1x. I am always trying out new golf balls, I also like the Bridgestone B330 and the Taylormade Tour Preferred X.
